Technician Safety Information

- Never drive vehicle with the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) test adapter connected. A collision may result from a reduction or complete loss of braking ability.

- Some service procedures require that the hydraulic lines, hoses, and fittings be disconnected. The system uses a hydraulic accumulator that, when fully charged contains brake fluid under high pressure. Be sure the accumulator is fully discharged when disconnecting lines, hoses, and fittings. Failure to do so will result in personal injury or damage to painted surfaces.

- Brake assemblies should be cleaned using a vacuum recommended for use with asbestos fibers. The vacuum bag must be labeled according to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) instructions. Technicians should wear toxic dust purifying respirators.
