Fuel Pressure Control Solenoid: Description and Operation

Fuel Pressure Control System:

The Fuel Pressure Control VSV, located on the engine, prevents engine vacuum from acting on the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) until coolant and intake air temperatures exceed a predetermined point. Without manifold vacuum pulling on the FPR, the fuel pressure will be approximately 4 - 5 psi higher than normal. This, in effect will aid in cold start/cold weather driveability. Operation of the VSV is controlled by the ECU and inputs through terminal FPU.
