Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect the vacuum sensing hose.Fuel Pressure Regulator Vacuum Hose:
2. Put a suitable container under the FPR to catch any fuel that escapes.
3. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the fuel return hose from the FPR.
4. Loosen the lock nut between the FPR and the LH fuel rail.
Installing Fuel Pressure Regulator:
5. Unscrew the FPR from the fuel rail.
6. Remove the O-ring from the FPR.
INSTALLATION:
1. Fully loosen the lock nut on the FPR and install a new O-ring. Coat the O-ring with a light coat of gasoline to ease insert into the fuel rail.
2. Insert the FPR into the fuel rail, giving attention to the proper positioning of the FPR to prevent fuel leaks.
Correct Installation Of FPR:
3. Install the two FPR mounting bolts and torque bolts to 4 ft.lbs. (5.4 N-m).
4. Connect fuel return pipe to the FPR utilizing new gaskets.
5. Torque the union bolt to 13 ft.lbs. (18 N-m). DO NOT overtighten the union bolt.
6. Reconnect the vacuum sensing hose to the FPR.
7. Ensure that any gasoline that escaped is thoroughly cleaned from the engine.
8. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
