Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Disable airbag system, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING & DISARMING.
2. Then the coolant temperature switch connector.
3. Disconnect lower radiator hose from coolant inlet housing.
4. Remove timing belt and sprockets. Refer to TIMING BELT.
5. Remove water bypass tubes-to-water pump cover attaching bolts, then the three water pump attaching bolts, Fig. 24.
6. Remove water pump and pump cover as an assembly, then remove two 0-rings and gasket.
7. Remove water pump-to-water pump cover attaching bolts, then remove water pump.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Rearm airbag system, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING & DISARMING.
