Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair
REMOVAL:1. Remove the Throttle Body from the intake plenum. Refer to THROTTLE BODY for proper procedure.
2. Remove the two union bolts and the injector pipe with the four gaskets.
Disconnecting Cold Start Injector Fuel Delivery Pipe:
3. Disconnect the vacuum sensing hose.
Disconnecting Vacuum Sensing Hose And Fuel Return Hose:
4. Put a suitable container under the FPR to catch any fuel that escapes.
5. Remove the fuel return hose from the FPR.
6. Loosen the FPR lock nut and unscrew the FPR from the fuel rail.
Removing FPR From Fuel Rail:
7. Remove the O-ring from the FPR.
INSTALLATION:
1. Install a new O-ring on the FPR. Coat the O-ring with a light coat of gasoline to ease insertion into the fuel rail.
Fuel Pressure Regulator O-Ring:
2. Screw the FPR into the fuel rail, giving attention to the proper positioning of the FPR.
Proper Positioning Of FPR Fuel Return Fitting:
3. Tighten the FPR lock nut and torque to 22 ft.lbs. (29 N-m).
4. Connect fuel return hose to the FPR.
5. Reconnect the vacuum sensing hose to the FPR.
6. Install the injector pipe with four new gaskets and two union bolts.
7. Reinstall the Throttle Body on the intake plenum. Refer to THROTTLE BODY for proper procedure.
8. Ensure that any gasoline that escaped is thoroughly cleaned from the engine.
9. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
