Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL:

1. Drain engine coolant from radiator.
2. Disconnect accelerator cable from throttle linkage.
3. Remove Intercooler. Refer to INTERCOOLER under TURBOCHARGER.
4. Remove four bolts and remove air connector.

Removing Air Connector:





5. Remove four bolts, the air connector stay and two spacers.

Removing Air Connector Stay:





6. Disconnect TPS and Idle Speed Control (ISC) Valve connectors.
7. Disconnect hoses:
a. Water hoses
b. Air hose
c. Emission control vacuum hoses
8. Remove four bolts, throttle body and gasket.

Removing Throttle Body:





9. If necessary, remove ISC Valve from bottom of throttle body.

INSTALLATION:

1. If the ISC Valve was removed, place a new gasket on the throttle body and reinstall the ISC Valve using the four mounting screws.
2. Install a new gasket between the throttle body and the intake plenum.
3. Install the throttle body using the four mounting bolts. Torque the bolts evenly to 14 ft.lbs. (19 N-m).
4. Connect hoses:
a. Water hoses
b. Air hose
c. Emission control vacuum hoses
5. Connect ISC Valve and TPS connectors.
6. Install air connector stay and two spacers.
7. Install air connector.
8. Install Intercooler. Refer to INTERCOOLER under TURBOCHARGER.
9. Connect accelerator cable and adjust. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES for proper procedure.
10. Fill radiator with coolant.
11. Start engine and check for vacuum leaks.
