Intercooler: Description and Operation
Intercooler:
The Intercooler cools the intake air that is compressed by the turbo impeller wheel. Cooling the intake air increases the air density and efficiency of the combustion mixture and helps to reduce combustion chamber temperature. The occurance of engine ping is thereby suppressed, allowing higher boost pressures and increasing engine output. The Intercooler is located on top of the engine and utilizes windstream air to dissipate the heat from the turbocharged intake air.
