Signal Generator Pick-Up Coils

***UPDATED BY TSB# EN91-007, JUNE 1991

1. Disconnect the wiring connector near the distributor.

Checking Resitance:

2. Connect one end of an ohmmeter to the G1 terminal. Connect the other end to the G- terminal.

G1 Pickup Coil Resistance: 125 - 190 ohms

3. Connect one end of an ohmmeter to the G2 terminal. Connect the other end to the G- terminal.

G2 Pickup Coil Resistance: 125 - 190 ohms

4. Connect one end of an ohmmeter to the NE terminal. Connect the other end to the G- terminal.

NE Pickup Coil Resistance: 155 - 240 ohms

G1 And G2 Pick-up Air Gap:

NE Pick-up Coil Air Gap:

5. Using a non magnetic feeler gauge, measure the gap between the signal rotor and pickup coil projection.

Air Gap: 0.008 in (0.2 mm) or more

NOTE: The air gap is not adjustable. If any of the above tests reveal a pick-up coil outside specifications, replace the distributor housing assembly.
