Push Type Controls
INSPECT CABLE ADJUSTMENT
Adjust water valve control cable.
Set the water valve and the temperature control switch to "COOL", then install the control cable and lock the clamp.
NOTE: Set the switch to "COOL" when the ignition switch is turned ON and the blower is operating.
INSPECT ILLUMINATION
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal C-15 and the negative (-) lead to terminal C-13.
2. Check that the illumination lights up.
If the illumination does not light up, test the bulb.
Indicators
1. Inspect air inlet indicator.
(with auto A/C)
connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and the negative (-) lead to each terminal, and check that the indicators light up as shown.
B-1 FRESH
B-5 RECIRC
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
(without auto A/C)
a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and the negative (-) lead to terminal C-10.
b. Check that the FRESH and RECIRC indicators light up alternately each time the air inlet control switch button is pressed.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
2. Inspect mode indicator.
a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and the negative (-) lead to terminal C-10.
b. Push each of the mode buttons in and check that their indicators light up.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
NOTE: Perform the following check only for vehicles with Auto A/C.
c. Disconnect the negative (-) lead from terminal C-10. Then connect it to each terminal and check that the indicator lights up as shown.
A-8 FACE
A-9 B/L
A-24 FOOT
B-7 AUTO
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
3. Inspect blower speed control.
a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and the negative (-) lead to terminal C-10.
b. Push each button of the blower buttons in and check that their indicators light up.
NOTE: The indicator will not light up when the blower button is in the OFF position.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
NOTE: Perform the following check only for vehicles with Auto A/C.
c. Disconnect the negative (-) lead from terminal C-10. Then connect it to each terminal and check that the indicators light up as shown.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
4. (with A/C) Inspect A/C indicator.
a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and the negative (-) lead to terminal C-11.
b. Push the A/C button in and check that the indicator lights up.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
5. Inspect indicator dimming operation.
a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-5 and the negative (-) lead to terminal C-10.
b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-6 and check that the mode indicator dims.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
SWITCHES
1. Inspect air inlet control switch continuity.
With Auto A/C.
Without Auto A/C.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
2. Inspect mode control switch continuity.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
3. Inspect blower speed control switch continuity.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
4. Inspect Temperature control switch.
a. Measure the resistance between terminals A-7 and A-20.
Resistance: 3 k Ohms
b. Check that the resistance between terminals A-20 and A-21 increases from 0 to approx. 3k Ohms when the switch knob is turned from COOL to HOT.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
5. inspect A/C switch continuity.
With Auto A/C.
Without Auto A/C.
If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.
