III. Instrument Panel Light Control Switch Removal
1. Remove the hood release lever.
2. Remove lower No. 1 finish panel.
(a) Remove left door opening step plate.
(b) Using thin blade screwdriver, pry out the cluster finish panel cover.
(c) Remove six screws and remove panel.
3. Remove steering column covers.
4. Remove lower cluster finish panel pull outwards by hand to disengage retaining clips.
Note: Be careful not to damage the surfaces of the cluster finish panel.
5. Remove cluster finish panel.
(a) Remove knob from left ventilator control lever.
(b) Remove five screws and pull out panel.
Note: It is not necessary to disconnect the wiring from the A/C control switch ETC.
6. Remove and inspect instrument panel light control switch.
(a) Disconnect wire harness connector from light control switch.
(b) Remove light control switch from cluster finish panel.
(c) Inspect whether switch is new (improved) design.
Find the surface of the switch housing with the M, S or other circled letter. If there is a black or green mark on the same surface, the switch is the new design and can be reinstalled.
If there is no black or green mark, the switch must be replaced with a new one that does have the black or green mark.
7. Installation
Follow the removal procedure in reverse to perform installation.
8. Verify operation of instrument panel light control switch.
