Ignition Rotor: Description and Operation

The distributor rotor is located on the distributor shaft. The rotor contacts the carbon in the center of the distributor cap. As the rotor turns, it transfers high voltage from the coil carbon terminal on the distributor cap, to the spark plug terminals in a predetermined sequence (firing order).
