Control Module HVAC: Description and Operation

PURPOSE

The AC Control Amplifier disengages the compressor clutch during idle speed to promote better idle quality. It also controls clutch ON and OFF based on signals from the thermistor.

LOCATION
On the evaporator case, passenger's side of the dash.

OPERATION
The ECM signals the amplifier to interrupt A/C operation if one or more of the following conditions are met:

^ Engine At Idle Below 600-700 rpm
^ Engine starting
^ Take off
^ Directly after A/C switch engagement
^ Acceleration from below 25 mph with engine speed under 2,800 rpm
