1. Disable airbag system refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. Remove charcoal canister with bracket.
3. Disconnect refrigerant lines at evaporator Fig. 9, capping all openings.
4. Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.
5. Remove glove compartment with undercover, then the glove box cover and reinforcement.
6. Remove EFI and ESC computer.
7. Disconnect electrical connectors at A/C switch and blower resistor.
8. Remove cooling unit.
9. Remove thermistor attaching screw and the thermistor.
10. Remove clamps and screws, then the lower case, Fig. 10.
11. Remove upper case.
12. Remove heat insulator and clamp from outlet tube.
13. Disconnect liquid line tube from expansion valve inlet fitting.
14. Disconnect expansion valve from inlet fitting of evaporator.
15. If necessary, remove pressure switch.
16. Reverse procedure to install, then evacuate and recharge system and check for leaks. If evaporator is replaced, add 1.4 to 1.7 oz. of new refrigerant oil to compressor.
17. Rearm airbag system, refer to MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ARMING/DISARMING.
