Ride Control Solenoid Valve: Service and Repair


1. Turn ignition switch to On and mode select switch to Sport position.
2. Short service connector terminals Tem and E2.
3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove battery ground cable.
4. Disconnect actuator connector.
5. Remove front actuator cover.
6. Remove two actuator mounting bolts and pull actuator from shock absorber.

7. Check shaft stop position when battery voltage is applied to each actuator terminal, Figs. 7 and 8. Do not apply battery voltage longer than approximately 2 seconds.
8. When switching over from Normal or Sport to Hard, operate motor with the solenoid on.
9. To install actuator, proceed as follows:
a. Check actuator valve is facing toward the firm position.
b. Ensure absorber control rod is facing toward the firm position.
c. Insert absorber control rod into the groove of the actuator valve, and secure actuator with attaching bolts. When servicing front actuator, install actuator wire harness so it is facing the front of the vehicle.
d. Install actuator cover, if equipped.
e. Install actuator connector.
f. Remove service wire from service connector.
