Fuel Pressure Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

1. Unplug and remove FPU Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) from the LH side of the engine.
2. Using an Ohmmeter, measure the resistance across the terminals.

Checking Fuel Pressure-Up VSV For Open Circuit:

Resistance: 30 - 50 Ohms

3. If not as specified, replace the VSV.
4. Check for continuity between the terminals and the VSV body. If continuity exists, replace the VSV.

Checking Fuel Pressure-Up VSV For Short Circuit:

5. Connect battery current to the VSV terminals. Blow through pipe E and ensure that air flows through filter.

Testing Fuel Pressure-Up VSV Operation - Curent Applied:

6. Disconnect battery current. Blow through pipe E and ensure that air flows through pipe G.

Testing Fuel Pressure-Up VSV Operation - Current Removed:

7. If a problem is found, replace the VSV.
8. Reinstall the FPU VSV on the engine.
