Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL:

1. Disconnect No.3 PCV hose.
2. Disconnect vacuum sensing hose to FPR.
3. Put a suitable container under the FPR to catch any fuel that escapes.
4. Remove the union bolt and disconnect the No.2 fuel pipe from the FPR.

Disconnecting No.2 Fuel Pipe From Fuel Pressure Regulator:





5. Loosen the lock-nut and unscrew the FPR from the fuel rail.

6. Remove the O-ring from the FPR.

INSTALLATION:

1. Install a new O-ring on the FPR. Coat the O-ring with a light coat of gasoline to ease insertion into the fuel rail.

2. Screw the FPR into the fuel rail, giving attention to the proper positioning of the FPR vacuum nipple.

Correct Alignment Of FPR:





3. Torque the FPR lock-nut to 18 ft.lbs. (25 N-m).
4. Connect the No.2 fuel pipe to the FPR utilizing new gaskets.
5. Torque the union bolt to 18 ft.lbs. (25 N-m). DO NOT overtighten the union bolt.
6. Reconnect the No.3 PCV hose and the vacuum sensing hose to the FPR.
7. Ensure that any gasoline that escaped is thoroughly cleaned from the engine.
8. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
