Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL:

1. Drain engine coolant from throttle body.
2. Disconnect accelerator connecting rod.
3. Remove No.1 air cleaner pipe.

Removing Air Cleaner Pipe:





4. Disconnect the six hoses from the ISC pipe and remove the ISC pipe.
5. Remove PCV pipe with hoses.
6. Remove intake air connector from top of engine.
7. Disconnect vacuum hoses.
8. Disconnect TPS connector.
9. Disconnect No.2 and No.3 water bypass hoses from the ISC Valve.

10. Remove four bolts, throttle body and gasket.

Removing Throttle Body:





11. Remove the vacuum transmitting valve (VTV).

INSTALLATION:

1. Install the VTV and two water bypass hoses to the throttle body.

2. Install a new gasket between the throttle body and the intake plenum.
3. Install the throttle body using the four mounting bolts. Torque the bolts evenly to 9 ft.lbs. (13 N-m).
4. Connect the water bypass hoses to the ISC Valve.
6. Connect TPS connector.
7. Connect vacuum hoses.
8. Install intake air connector.
9. Install PCV pipe with hoses.
10. Connect the six hoses from the ISC pipe and install the ISC pipe.
11. Install the No.1 air cleaner pipe.
12. Connect accelerator connecting rod and adjust. Refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES for proper procedure.
13. Fill radiator with coolant.
14. Start engine and check for vacuum leaks.
