Ignition Coil Pack

1. Disconnect the secondary ignition wires from the ignition coil pack.

Primary Ignition Coil Wire Removal:

2. Disconnect the ignition coil connectors.

3. Turn the ignition switch to the on position.

Ignition Coil Voltage Supply Test:

4. Using a voltmeter, measure the voltage between terminal #1 and body ground.

Voltage: Approximately 12 Volts

5. If voltage was not present in step #4, check fusible links, ignition switch, wires, and connectors between battery and ignition coil.

Ignition Coil Primary Resistance:

6. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the positive and negative terminals of the ignition coil.

Primary Resistance (Cold): 0.3 - 0.5 ohms

NOTE: Because it is inside the coil it is not possible to measure secondary coil resistance.

Ignition Coil Ground Test:

7. Using an ohmmeter, ensure there is no continuity between the ignition coil primary terminals and ground.

8. If primary coil resistance was not within specifications, replace ignition coil. If continuity to ground was present, replace ignition coil.
