Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair
1. Place steering wheel in the straight ahead position.
2. Place mode select switch in the normal position.
3. Using a sub harness, short the service connector terminals Tem and E2.
4. Turn ignition switch to On and check indicator lights S and F flash (S is soft, F is firm) flash.
5. Turn steering wheel 1/10 to 1/8 turn to the right from straight ahead position and check that the F indicators flash and S light goes out.
6. Return steering wheel to the right from the straight ahead position, then 1/10 to 1/8 turn to the left and check that the S indicator light flashes and the F light goes out.

7. If not, proceed as follows:
a. Turn ignition switch on and measure voltage between steering sensor connector terminals 1 and 2, Fig. 9.
b. Voltage should be 3.5-4.2 volts.
c. Measure voltage between steering sensor connector terminals 3, 4 and 2 while slowly turning the steering wheel.
d. Voltage fluctuate between 5 volts to zero volts to 5 volts to zero volts.
e. If not replace steering sensor and disc.
