Removal and Installation

1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove front tire and wheel assemblies.
2. Remove steering shaft universal joint bolt on pinion shaft side, then loosen universal joint bolt on main shaft side. Make alignment marks between pinion shaft and universal joint, then pull out universal joint from pinion shaft.
3. Remove power steering pressure and return lines from gear housing.
4. Remove engine undercover.
5. Remove cotter pins and nuts from tie rod ends, then using suitable puller, separate tie rod ends from steering knuckles.
6. On turbo models, remove air intake connector and air hose.
7. On all models, remove steering damper attaching bolts, then the damper.
8. Remove power steering hose clamp bolts, then the gear housing bracket attaching bolts.
9. Remove steering gear housing from vehicle.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Torque attaching nuts and bolts to specifications.
