This is a two stage catalytic converter with the AS inlet separating the TWC (first stage) from the oxidizing converter (second stage). The TWC portion consists of an aluminum carrier coated with a catalyst (active material) such as platinum or palladium that oxidizes and reduces HC, CO and NOx. The air suction (AS) system introduces additional oxygen into the converter to enhance final oxidation. The process converts harmful emissions, (HC, CO and NOx), into water, carbon dioxide and nitrogen.
