Throttle Cable/Linkage: Adjustments

1. The cable is adjusted by lengthening or shortening the cable sheath. Ensure that the choke is open and the throttle valve is on the first step of the fast idle cam.
2. Check the adjustment by checking for slack in the bare cable between the mounting bracket and the throttle valve arm.
3. The cable should NOT be taut or holding the throttle valve open. Ensure that there is NOT excessive slack either, causing less that full throttle opening angle when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed.
4. If either of these situations is present, loosen the locking nuts on the mounting bracket.

Adjusting Accelerator Cable:

5. Lengthen or shorten the cable sheath accordingly until proper slack is achieved.
6. Tighten lock nuts to secure cable adjustment.
7. Ensure that cable adjustment is still correct.
