Component Inspections

Separate seat type:
INSPECT SLIDE MOTOR OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turns clockwise.
b. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Separate seat type driver's seat side:
INSPECT SLIDE MOTOR PTC THERMISTOR OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2, the positive (+) lead from the ammeter to terminal 1, and the negative (-) lead to battery negative (-) terminal, and move the seat front end position.
b. Continue to apply voltage, check the current changes to less than 1 ampere within 4 to 90 seconds.




c. Disconnect the lead from the terminals.
d. Approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+) lead from battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, check that the seat begins to move backward.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Passenger's seat side:
INSPECT SLIDE MOTOR PTC THERMISTOR OPERATION





a. Separate power seat adjuster from front seat. A
b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1, the positive (+) lead from the ammeter to terminal 2, and the negative (-) lead to the battery negative (-) terminal, and move the seat front end position.
c. Continue to apply voltage, check the current changes to less than 1 ampere within 4 to 90 seconds.




d. Disconnect the lead from the terminals.
e. After approximately 60 seconds, connect the positive (+) lead from battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, check that the seat begins to move backward.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Bench seat type driver's seat side:
INSPECT SLIDE MOTOR OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
b. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clock wise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Passenger's seat side:

a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turns clockwise.
b. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
b. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Separate seat type driver's seat side:
INSPECT FRONT AND REAR VERTICAL MOTOR OPERATION

a. Separate the power seat adjuster from the front seat.




b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2 on the front vertical motor connector, and move the front edge of seat cushion to the highest position.
c. Check that the current drops under 1A within 4 to 60 seconds.




d. Disconnect the leads from the terminals within 5 seconds.
e. Reverse the polarity, check that the seat cushion begins descend within approximately 60 seconds.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Passenger's seat side:
INSPECT FRONT AND REAR VERTICAL MOTOR THERMISTOR OPERATION

a. Separate the power seat adjuster from the front seat.




b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1 on the front vertical motor connector, and move the front edge of seat cushion to the highest position.
c. Check that the current drop's under 1 A within 4 to 60 seconds.




d. Disconnect the leads from the terminals within 5 seconds.
e. Reverse the polarity, check that the seat cushion begins descend within approximately 60 seconds.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Passenger's seat side:
INSPECT RECLINING MOTOR OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, check that the motor turn clockwise.
b. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns counterclockwise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Driver's seat side:
INSPECT RECLINING MOTOR PTC THERMISTOR OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2, the positive (+) lead from the ammeter to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to battery negative (-) terminal, and recline the seat back to the most forward position.
b. Continue to apply voltage ,check the current change to less than 1 ampere with 4 to 90 seconds.




c. Disconnect the lead from terminals.
d. After approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+) lead from battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, check that the seat back starts to fall backward.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Passenger's seat side:
INSPECT RECLINING MOTOR PTC THERMISTOR OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2, the positive (+) lead from the ammeter to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to battery negative (-) terminal, and recline the seat back to the most forward position.
b. Continue to apply voltage , check the current change to less than 1 ampere with 4 to 90 seconds.




c. Disconnect the lead from terminals.
d. After approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+) lead from battery to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1, check that the seat back starts to fall backward.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.
