FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM (2AZ Engine with Automatic Transaxle)
REPLACEMENT
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVERS
4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH (for LH Side)
5. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH (for RH Side)
6. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD W/ BRACKET (for RH Side)
(a) Remove the 3 bolts and the engine moving control rod w/ bracket.
7. SEPARATE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR FR
(a) Remove the 3 nuts from the engine mounting insulator.
8. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH (for LH Side)
(a) Remove the 2 hole plugs.
(b) Remove the 4 nuts.
(c) Using a jack and a wooden block, support the engine and transaxle as shown in the illustration. While ensuring that there is no interference from surrounding engine components, tilt the engine and transaxle to a position that allows the engine mounting insulator to be removed.
NOTICE:
- Do not position the wooden block on the oil pan.
- Do not damage the components surrounding the engine with transaxle.
- Tilt the engine with transaxle as little as possible.
- Ensure that the jack and wooden block are stable.
- Keep the engine with transaxle supported until installation of the engine mounting insulator is complete.
(d) Remove the engine mounting insulator LH.
9. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR RH (for RH Side)
(a) Remove the bolt and separate the steering gear return tube clamp.
(b) Remove the 2 hole plugs.
(c) Remove the 4 nuts.
(d) Using a jack and a wooden block, support the engine and transaxle as shown in the illustration. While ensuring that there is no interference from surrounding engine components, tilt the engine and transaxle to a position that allows the engine mounting insulator to be removed.
NOTICE:
- Do not position the wooden block on the oil pan.
- Do not damage the components surrounding the engine with transaxle.
- Tilt the engine with transaxle as little as possible.
- Ensure that the jack and wooden block are stable.
- Keep the engine with transaxle supported until installation of the engine mounting insulator is complete.
(e) Remove the engine mounting insulator RH.
10. REMOVE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM (FRONT SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSY LOWER NO. 1)
(a) Remove a bolt and 2 nuts.
(b) Disconnect the front suspension arm from the steering knuckle.
(c) Remove the 3 bolts and the nut.
(d) Remove the front lower suspension arm and front lower arm bush stopper.
11. INSTALL FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION ARM (FRONT SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSY LOWER NO. 1)
(a) Install the front lower arm bush stopper to the front lower suspension arm.
(b) Install the front lower suspension arm.
(c) Tighten the 2 bolts (A).
Torque: 200 Nm (2039 kg fcm, 148 ft lbf)
(d) Tighten the bolts (B) and nut.
Torque: 206 Nm (2101 kgf cm, 152 ft lbf)
(e) Connect the suspension arm to the steering knuckle and tighten a bolt and 2 nuts.
Torque: 75 Nm (765 kgf cm, 55 ft lbf)
12. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR LH (for LH Side)
(a) Set the engine mounting insulator.
(b) Lower the engine and transaxle slowly.
NOTICE:
- Match the position of the pin (stopper).
- Do not position the wooden block on the oil pan.
- Do not damage the components surrounding the engine with transaxle.
- Ensure that the jack and wooden block are stable.
(c) Tighten the nut (A).
Torque: 95 Nm (969 kgf cm, 70 ft lbf)
(d) Tighten the 3 nuts (B).
Torque: 87 Nm (887 kgf cm, 64 ft lbf)
(e) Install the 2 hole plugs.
13. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR RH (for RH Side)
(a) Set the engine mounting insulator.
(b) Lower the engine and transaxle slowly.
NOTICE:
- Match the position of the cutout (stopper).
- Do not position the wooden block on the oil pan.
- Do not damage the components surrounding the engine with transaxle.
- Ensure that the jack and wooden block are stable.
(c) Tighten the nut (A).
Torque: 95 Nm (969 kgf cm, 70 ft lbf)
(d) Tighten the 3 nuts (B).
Torque: 87 Nm (887 kgf cm, 64 ft lbf)
(e) Install the 2 hole plugs.
(f) Install the steering gear return tube clamp with the bolt.
Torque: 7.8 Nm (80 kgf cm, 69 in lbf)
14. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR FR
(a) Install the 3 nuts.
Torque: 52 Nm (530 kgf cm, 38 ft lbf)
15. INSTALL ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD W/ BRACKET (for RH Side)
(a) Install the engine mounting control rod with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 64 Nm (653 kgf cm, 47 ft lbf)
16. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL LH (for LH Side)
17. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH (for RH Side)
18. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVERS
19. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL(S)
20. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
21. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
