Some 2004 model year Camry vehicles with a 4--speed automatic transmission may exhibit a vibration noise or shudder during the 1--2 upshift. This condition is most noticeable during moderate acceleration after the transaxle reaches operating temperature. The valve body has been improved to correct this condition.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004
model year Camry vehicles equipped with 2AZ-FE engine and 4-speed automatic transmission.

REPAIR PROCEDURE 1:

1. Confirm the 1--2 upshift condition during test drive.
2. Replace the transmission valve body assembly by referring to ETAS, 2004 model year Camry Repair Manual:
Section: Automatic Transmission/Trans;
Subsection: Transmission Valve Body Assy.

3. Clear the "Learned Values" of the Engine Control Module (ECM, SAE term: Powertrain Control Module, PCM) as described in TSB1251, Reset Procedure 1.
