DTC P1839 REAR RIGHT SPEED SENSOR MALFUNCTION

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

DTC Detection Condition:

Speed sensor detects the wheel speed and sends the appropriate signals to the transmission control ECU. These signals are used to control the transmission control ECU. The front and rear rotors each has 48 serrations.

When the rotors rotate, the magnetic field emitted by the permanent magnet in the speed sensor generates an AC voltage. Since the frequency of this AC voltage changes in direct proportion to the rotor speed, the frequency is used by the transmission control ECU to detect the speed of each wheel.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT: Read freeze frame data using hand-held tester or OBD II scan tool, as freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, it is useful for determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, the engine was warmed up or not, etc. at the time of the malfunction.
