Clutch Coast Learning of Transmission Control ECU

PERFORM CLUTCH COAST LEARNING OF TRANSMISSION CONTROL ECU

CAUTION: If the warning buzzer sounds after the initial learning of the transmission control ECU is performed, perform the clutch coast learning of the transmission control ECU according to the operation mentioned below.

a. Start and warm up the engine. The water temperature should be 35°C (95°F) or more.
b. After starting with the shift lever in 1st gear, shift up to 3rd gear.
c. With the shift lever in 3rd gear, accelerate the engine to 3,000 rpm or more.
d. From the condition in (c), release the accelerator pedal and decelerate the engine to 3,000 rpm or less.

NOTE: At this time, do not use the brakes.

e. When the engine reaches 3,000 rpm, shift the gear from 3rd to 2nd.
f. Maintaining the conditions of (e), keep coasting until the engine reaches 2,000 rpm or less.

HINT:
- Accelerator: OFF
- Brake: OFF

g. In order to secure this learning, repeat the above operations 3 times.
h. Check that the clutch coast learning is finished completely.

CAUTION:
- To ensure safety, conduct this test in a wide, clear area with a level surface which provides good traction.
- This test should always be carried out in pairs. One technician should be observing the wheels or checking the wheel stoppers outside the vehicle, while the other is doing the test.
1. Check the 4 wheels.
2. Fully apply the parking brake.
3. Keep your left foot firmly pressed on the brake pedal.
4. Start the engine.
5. Check that the engine is running at 700 ± 50 rpm.
6. Shift to the 2nd gear.
7. Fully depress the accelerator pedal with your right foot.
8. Check that the warning buzzer (long pulse sound) does not sound within 3 seconds.

If the warning buzzer sounds, start again from step (b).
