Title
MOBIL SPEEDPASS INTERFERENCE WITH SMART KEY SYSTEM
Models
'04 Prius
Introduction
In some cases, when customers fuel their vehicles at Mobil filling stations that use the Antenna-style Speedpass system, the customer may experience poor performance of the Smart Key system. Improvements in the system have been made to correct the following symptoms:
^ Remote Keyless Entry (conventional wireless transmitter) functions intermittently inoperative.
^ Keyless ignition function intermittently inoperative.
NOTE:
^ During the above conditions, the customer can always use the "Hard" key shank to unlock the doors and can start the ignition by inserting the key head into the ignition key slot.
^ This TSB addresses the above complaints only.
^ Some interference from strong electrical signals (including Speed pass) may still occur. Please refer to page 23 of the owner's manual for additional information.
Applicable Vehicles
^ 2004 model year Prius vehicles with the Smart Key System produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown below.
