System Specifications
Cylinder Head Bolt Torque
Torque 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.)Initial +90° +90°
Check the front marks and numbers on the bearing caps No. 1 and No. 2, then tighten the bolts uniformly in several steps in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque:
23 Nm (235 kgf-cm, 17 ft. lbs.) for Bearing Cap No. 1
13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9.6 ft. lbs.) for Bearing Cap No. 2
Temporarily tighten the 9 bolts and 2 nuts on the cylinder head cover.
Using several steps, tighten the bolts and nuts with the specified torque in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7.4 ft. lbs.)
INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD
Install a new gasket, then install the exhaust manifold.
Tighten the 3 bolts and 2 nuts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 27 Nm (275 kgf-cm, 20 ft. lbs.)
Install the exhaust manifold heat insulator No. 1 with the 4 bolts.
Torque 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.)
INSPECT CYLINDER HEAD FOR FLATNESS
Using a precision straight edge and feeler gauge, measure the warpage on the cylinder block side and the intake and exhaust manifold sides.
Maximum warpage:
0.05 mm (0.0020 inch for cylinder block side
0.10 mm (0.0039 inch) for intake manifold side
0.10 mm (0.0039 inch) for exhaust manifold side
INSTALL CYLINDER HEAD SET STRAIGHT PIN
Using a plastic-faced hemmer, tap in a new cylinder head straight pin.
Standard protrusion 8.5 to 9.5 mm (0.335 to 0.374 inch)
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the valve lifter and camshaft.
Valve clearance (Cold):
Intake 0.17 to 0.23 mm (0.007 to 0.009 inch)
Exhaust 0.27 to 0.33 mm (0.011 to 0.013 inch)
