INTRODUCTION:
Some vehicles may have a condition where a sun visor assembly can cause an open circuit in the dome fuse due to damage of the vanity light circuit. If the cause of the open circuit is traced to the sun visor assembly, an updated sun visor assembly is available.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2004 model year Prius and RAV4 vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown below.

NOTE:
Refer to the parts catalog to order parts with the correct colour code and production date.


REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Verify that the dome fuse is open.
2. Verify that the vehicle's VIN is before the VIN break listed in the Production Change Information table.
3. Verify that one or more of the sun visors are causing the open circuit in the dome fuse.
A. Disassemble the sun visor assembly from the roof.
B. Use an ohmmeter to test the sun visor assembly by connecting the leads into the two-pin connector.
C. Work the assembly through its range of motion. The meter should always read open.

NOTE:
Test the visor with the mirror in the closed position.


4. Replace the sun visor assembly with the updated part. For repair procedure, refer to ETAS: Applicable model year Prius or RAV4 Repair Manual: Exterior/Interior Trim: Roof Headling Assy: Replacement.
5. Replace the dome fuse.
