Shifter A/T: Service and Repair









TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSY (ATM)
OVERHAUL
1. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSY
2. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSY REAR
3. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSY UPPER
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
6. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY LH
7. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSY RH
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSY NO.1
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL RH
10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH
11. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX FRONT
12. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET NO.1
13. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY





a) Disconnect the transmission control cable assy from the transmission floor shift assy.
14. REMOVE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSY
a) Disconnect the shift lock control computer connector.
b) Shift lever with multi-mode automatic transmission:





1) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector.





c) Remove the 4 bolts and transmission floor shift assy.
15. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY





a) Remove the shift lever knob sub-assy.
16. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER





a) Using a small screwdriver, remove the shift lock release button cover from the position indicator housing assy.
17. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING ASSY





a) Using a screwdriver, remove the position indicator housing from the shift lever assy.
18. REMOVE INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSY





a) Remove the connector from the transmission floor shift assy.
b) Using a screwdriver, release the stopper of the connector.
c) Remove the position indicator lamp bulb from the indicator lamp wire.





d) Using a small screwdriver, disengage the locking lug of terminals (4) and (8), and pull the terminals out from the rear.
19. INSTALL INDICATOR LAMP WIRE SUB-ASSY
a) Connect the 2 terminals of the indicator lamp wire harness to the transmission control switch connector.
b) Install the position indicator lamp bulb to the indicator lamp wire.





c) Connect the connector to the transmission floor shift assy.
20. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING ASSY





a) Install the position indicator housing to the transmission floor shift assy.

HINT: Securely engage the claws.

21. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER





a) Install the shift lock release button cover to the position indicator housing assy.
22. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSY





a) Install the shift lever knob sub-assy.
23. INSTALL TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSY





a) Install the transmission floor shift assy with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)

HINT: Tighten them in order: A, B, C and D.

NOTICE: Be careful not to put the wires of the indicator lamp of the shift lock system between the floor shift assy and the floor while installing the transmission floor shift assy.

b) Connect the shift lock control computer connector.
c) Shift lever with multi-mode automatic transmission:





1) Connect the transmission control switch connector.
24. CONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSY





a) Connect the transmission control cable assy to the transmission floor shift assy.

HINT:
^ Install it with the uneven surface facing up.
^ Securely engage the claws.

25. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
26. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
