Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly

REMOVAL

HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

1. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
2. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE COVER RH
3. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE COVER LH
4. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE RH
5. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE LH
6. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY RH
7. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY LH
8. REMOVE REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT COVER LH
9. REMOVE REAR SEAT SHOULDER BELT COVER RH
10. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
12. REMOVE CUP HOLDER NO.1
13. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER LH
14. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL LOWER LH




15. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

NOTE:
- Removal of the seat belt pretensioner must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
- Carefully read the notes for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system section and the front seat outer belt section.

a. Disconnect the pretensioner connector as shown in the illustration.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and outer belt.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.




a. Check the amount of inclination required to lock the retractor.
1. When the inclination of the retractor is 15 degrees or less, check that the belt can be pulled from the retractor. When the inclination of the retractor is over 45 degrees, check that the belt locks.
If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assembly.




b. Install the outer belt with the 3 bolts.

Torque: 7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) for bolt A
42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for bolt B

Torque: Bolt labeled A 7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)
Bolt labeled B 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

c. Connect the pretensioner connector, as shown in the illustration.
d. Install the floor anchor with the bolt.

Torque: 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

e. Check if the ELR locks.

NOTE: The check should be performed with the outer belt assembly installed.

1. With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
If operation is not as specified, replace the outer belt assembly.

2. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
a. Connect the battery's negative terminal.

NOTE: When disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal, initialize the following system (s) after the terminal is reconnected.

b. Check the SRS warning light.
