AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1625/22: Front Passenger Side - Side Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction

DTC B1625/22 - Front Passenger Side - Side Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The side airbag sensor assembly RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.
If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1625/22 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the front passenger side - side airbag sensor assembly circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC

(a) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(b) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (DTC Check / Clear).
(c) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Check the DTCs (DTC Check / Clear).
OK:
DTC B1625/22 is not output.

HINT: Codes other than DTC B1625/22 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the side airbag sensor assembly RH.
OK:
The connectors are connected.
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS, THEN GO TO STEP 1
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT (OPEN)

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the side airbag sensor assembly RH.
(b) Using a service wire, connect A23-22 (VUPP) and A23-20 (ESP) of connector "B".

NOTE: Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (OPEN)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT (SHORT)

(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector "B".
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (SHORT)
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT (SHORT TO B+)

(a) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

NG -- CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+)
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT (SHORT TO GROUND)

(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (SHORT TO GROUND)
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly.
(b) Interchange the side airbag sensor assembly RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (DTC Check / Clear).
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(h) Check the DTCs (DTC Check / Clear).
Result:

HINT: Codes other than DTC B1620/21 and B1625/22 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

B -- REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY RH
A -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEBMLY
C -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
8. CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (OPEN)

(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector "B".
(b) Disconnect the front door wire RH connector from the floor wire No. 2.
(c) Coupe:
Using a service wire, connect IP1-2 (VUPR) and IP1-1 (ESR) of connector "D".
(d) Convertible:
Using a service wire, connect IP1-1 (VUPR) and IP1-2 (ESR) of connector "D".
