Automatic Air Conditioning System

AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM (for Automatic Air Conditioning System): 31: Air Mix Damper Position Sensor Circuit (Passenger Side)

DTC 31 - Air Mix Damper Position Sensor Circuit (Passenger Side)

DESCRIPTION

This sensor detects the position of the air mix control servo motor (air mix damper servo sub-assembly) and sends the appropriate signals to the A/C amplifier. The position sensor is built in the air mix control servo motor (air mix damper servo sub-assembly).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER

(a) Remove the A/C amplifier with the connector still connected.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Change the temperature setting to activate the air mix control servo motor (air mix damper servo sub-assembly).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

HINT: As the temperature setting increases, the voltage decreases gradually without interruption.

Result:

C -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT AIR MIX CONTROL SERVO MOTOR (AIR MIX DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY)

(a) Remove the air mix control servo motor (air mix damper servo sub-assembly).
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

HINT: For details, regarding operation of servo motor. (Automatic Air Conditioning System)

Standard resistance:

HINT: As the air mix control servo motor (air mix damper servo sub-assembly) moves from the cool side to the warm side, the resistance decreases gradually without interruption.

NG -- REPLACE AIR MIX CONTROL SERVO MOTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR MIX CONTROL SERVO MOTOR - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER)

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
