DTC 32 - Air Inlet Damper Position Sensor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

This sensor detects the position of the air inlet control servo motor (recirculation damper servo sub-assembly) and sends the appropriate signals to the A/C amplifier. The position sensor is built in the air inlet control servo motor (recirculation damper servo sub-assembly).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER (TPI - SG-2)





(a) Remove the A/C amplifier with the connectors still connected.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Change the RECIRC/FRESH setting to activate the air inlet control servo motor (recirculation damper servo sub-assembly).
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:





HINT: As the air inlet control servo motor (recirculation damper servo sub-assembly) moves from the RECIRC side to the FRESH side, the voltage decreases gradually without interruption.

Result:





C -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT AIR INLET CONTROL SERVO MOTOR (RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY)





(a) Remove the air inlet control servo motor (recirculation damper servo sub-assembly).
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

HINT: For details, regarding operation of servo motor. (Automatic Air Conditioning System)

Standard resistance:





HINT: As the air inlet control servo motor (recirculation damper servo sub-assembly) moves from the FRESH side to the RECIRCULATION side, the resistance decreases gradually without interruption.

NG -- REPLACE AIR INLET CONTROL SERVO MOTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR INLET CONTROL SERVO MOTOR - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER)





(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
