3. REMOVE FRONT FRAME ASSEMBLY Removal
4. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal
5. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE OIL LEVEL GAUGE GUIDE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
7. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal
8. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal
9. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE & RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
10. FIX ENGINE ASSEMBLY
11. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
12. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY Removal
13. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY Removal
14. REMOVE WATER INLET HOUSING Removal
15. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY Disassembly
16. REMOVE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY NO. 2 Disassembly
17. REMOVE OIL STRAINER SUB-ASSEMBLY Disassembly
18. REMOVE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY Disassembly
19. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY Removal
20. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Removal
21. REMOVE NO. 1 OIL PIPE Disassembly
22. REMOVE OIL PIPE Disassembly
23. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Disassembly
24. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly
25. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN OR BELT COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the 23 bolts and 2 nuts as shown in the illustration.





(b) Remove the timing chain cover by prying between the timing chain cover and cylinder head or cylinder block with a screwdriver.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder head, cylinder block and chain cover.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.





(c) Remove the gasket.
26. REMOVE TIMING GEAR CASE OR TIMING CHAIN CASE OIL SEAL





(a) Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
