Cabin Air Filter / Purifier: Service and Repair

Air Conditioning Filter

Removal

1. Set the air conditioning system to recirculated mode. The air conditioning filter case cannot be removed with the system in the outside air mode.

2. Turn the "ENGINE START STOP" switch or the engine switch OFF.

3. Open the glove box. Remove the screw with a Phillips-head screwdriver and slide off the damper.

4. Push in each side of the glove box to disconnect the claws.

5. Remove the filter cover while pushing in both ends of the cover.

6. Pull the filter out of the filter outlet.

Cleaning method:

If the filter is dirty, clean by blowing compressed air through the filter from the downward side. Hold the air gun 2 inches from the filter and blow for approx. 2 minutes at 72 psi. If not possible have the filter cleaned by your Toyota dealer.

Replacement method:

Remove the air conditioning filter and replace it with a new one. The UP mark on the filter should be pointing up.

Checking Interval

Inspect, clean and replace the air conditioning filter according to the maintenance schedule. In dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic flow, more frequent cleaning or early replacement may be required.

If air flow from vents decreases dramatically, the filter may be clogged. Check the filter and replace if necessary.
