Applicability

Introduction

On some 2008-2010 Avalon vehicles the High Beam/DRL bulb may become inoperative or shatter. A newly designed High Beam/DRL housing assembly (including the applicable bulb) is available in the event this condition has occurred.

This condition does not apply to the low beam bulb which functions independently of the High Beam/DRL bulb.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure

1. Confirm if the inoperative headlight bulb is broken.

If it is broken replace the affected headlamp assembly.

2. Remove the headlamp assembly.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

2008/2009/2010 Avalon:

Vehicle Exterior; Lighting (ext), Headlight assemblies, Removal Headlight Assembly

3. Install the new headlamp assembly.

2008/2009/2010 Avalon:

Vehicle Exterior; Lighting (ext), Headlight assemblies, Installation Headlight Assembly

NOTE

Confirm the headlamp assembly is properly aligned using the appropriate procedure in the Headlight Installation section of the Repair Manual.

4. After repair confirm proper operation of the headlight system.
