Repair Procedure
1. Using TIS Techstream, confirm that DTC P011B is present.
2. Review the Freeze Frame Data (FFD) and compare the "Coolant Temp" value to the "Intake Air" value.
3. Is the "Intake Air" value in the FFD at least 36°F (20°C) lower than the "Coolant Temp" value?
Example: In the FFD in Figure 1 above, there is a 65°F difference.
HINT
The "Coolant Temp" value on the FFD list should be close to ambient temperature at the time of M.I.L. "ON" experienced by the customer.
^ YES Replace the intake air flow meter assembly.
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2009 model year Camry Repair Manual: Engine/Hybrid System Engine Control "2AZ-FE Engine Control System: Mass Air Flow Meter: Removal and Installation"
^ NO This TSB does NOT apply. Proceed with the Repair Manual diagnostic procedure for DTC P011B.
4. Clear DTCs.
5. Confirm the repair.
A. Start the engine and warm it to operating temperature.
B. Connect TIS Techstream, navigate to the Engine and ECT data list.
C. Compare the "Intake Air" value to ambient temperature. They should be within 18°F (10°C).
HINT
Do NOT use the vehicle's outside temperature gauge for the ambient temperature value. It may NOT be accurate at the time of the comparison. Some models have a delayed response to actual temperature variations. Use an accurate thermometer to determine outside ambient air temperature.
