INTRODUCTION:
In some instances like when bulky objects or large luggage are pushed into the trunk area, the Trunk Lid Torsion Bar may become mis-positioned leading to a rattle noise from the rear of the vehicle or in some cases no sound from the audio systems. Use the following repair procedure to address this condition.

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:







1. Replace the luggage compartment door torsion bar support with the new part.







2. Install a zip tie to the torsion bar support and torsion bars.

HINT:
Be sure that the zip tie is installed around both torsion bars and the torsion bar support (see Figure 2).


3. Tighten the zip tie until the torsion bar will not go over the bottom corner of the torsion bar support.
4. Do not over tighten the zip tie. Over tightening could cause noise when opening/closing the trunk.
5. Confirm no trunk lid noise and smooth movement when opening/closing the trunk.
6. Check audio system operation. If there is NO sound from the audio system, diagnose the audio system.
