PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Rear Disc Brake): REMOVAL
REMOVAL
CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Service Precautions.
HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the No. 2 parking brake cable assembly and No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
- The procedure listed below is for the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (w/ Front Seat Side Airbag)
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
2. REMOVE REAR WHEELS
3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Manual Seat)
HINT: Refer to the instructions for Removal of the front seat assembly Removal.
4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH (for Power Seat)
HINT: Refer to the instructions for Removal of the front seat assembly Removal.
5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Perform the same procedure for the LH side.
6. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
HINT: Refer to the instructions for Removal of the front console box Removal.
7. REMOVE NO. 2 BELT ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
8. REMOVE NO. 3 BELT ANCHOR REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
9. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER Removal
10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY Removal
11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE EQUALIZER Removal
12. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE END STOPPER Removal
13. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY Removal
14. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FE) Removal
15. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (for 2AZ-FE) Removal
16. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
(a) Remove the 3 nuts and front No. 1 floor heat insulator.
17. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
(a) Remove the 2 nuts and front No. 2 floor heat insulator.
18. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR
(a) Remove the parking brake lever protector from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
19. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the clamp from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
(b) Remove the bolt.
(c) Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
(d) Remove the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
HINT: Insert an offset wrench (14 mm) at the base of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly as shown in the illustration to disengage the clip. Pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
(e) Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable clamp.
(f) Remove the bolt and pull out the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly to the outside of the body.
(g) Remove the 2 bolts and the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
20. REMOVE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE CLAMP
(a) Disengage the 2 claws to remove the No. 3 parking brake cable clamp from the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.
