Applicability

Introduction

Some 2009 - 2010 model year Corolla vehicles may exhibit a condition where the charging system warning light is "ON" the alternator is inoperative, and/or there is an abnormal noise from the engine compartment. This may be caused by the pulley not being seated correctly. The pulley has been updated to correct this condition. Use the following procedure to diagnose and repair the alternator.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.





Required Tools & Equipment

Repair Procedure

1. Remove the original alternator per the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model year Repair Manual.

^ 2009 / 2010 Corolla:

Power Source/Network - Battery/Charging - "2ZR-FE Battery/Charging: Generator: Removal"

2. Install the alternator per TIS applicable model year Repair Manual.

^ 2009 / 2010 Corolla:

Power Source/Network - Battery/Charging - "2ZR-FE Battery/Charging: Generator: Installation"

3. Confirm charge light is out and charging system is operating properly.
