INTRODUCTION:







If the shift lever cover is damaged, it may require additional effort to move the shift lever. The following repair procedure has been developed for 2009 - 2010 model year Corolla vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions.






APPLICABILITY:

PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:







This TSB applies to ALL 2009 - 2010 MY NUMMI (WMI = 1NX) built vehicles and, to 2009 - 2010 MY vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

PARTS INFORMATION:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:







1. Remove the lower instrument finish panel LH by disengaging the 3 claws and clip.







2. Remove the lower instrument finish panel RH by disengaging the 3 claws and clip.







3. Remove the shift lever knob by turning it counterclockwise.







4. Remove the center No. 1 instrument cluster finish panel assembly (for automatic transaxle).
A. Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips.
B. Disengage the guide and remove the center No. 1 instrument cluster finish panel assembly.







5. Remove the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.
Disengage the 4 claws and remove the position indicator housing sub-assembly from the shift lock control unit.

NOTICE:
Do NOT damage the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly.








6. Remove the position indicator light guide by disengaging the 4 claws.







7. Remove the position indicator slide cover and the shift lever knob cover from the shifter assembly.
8. Re-assemble the shifter with the NEW position indicator slide cover, shift lever knob cover, position indicator light guide, and the position indicator housing sub-assembly.
9. Re-install in the reverse order of removal.
10. Verify proper operation.
