DTC B2287 - LIN Communication Master Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
This DTC is output when there is an open, short or ECU communication malfunction between the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block) and certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT: When DTC B2785 and B2287 are output simultaneously, perform the troubleshooting for DTC B2785 first.
NOTE: If the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) is replaced, register the keys and ECU communication ID Engine Immobiliser System (W/ Smart Key System).
PROCEDURE
1. CLEAR DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Recheck for the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
B2287 is not output.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - MAIN BODY ECU)
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - MAIN BODY ECU)
(a) Disconnect the E36 and 2C connectors.
(b) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
Standard Voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK)
(a) Replace the main body ECU (instrument panel junction block).
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Recheck for the DTC.
OK:
B2287 is not output.
NG -- REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY)
OK -- END (MAIN BODY ECU (INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK) IS DEFECTIVE)
