E351 MANUAL TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE Removal
4. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal
5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR





(a) Remove the 3 nuts and remove the No. 1 front floor heat insulator.
6. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH Removal
7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL RH Removal
8. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
9. REMOVE CENTER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY Removal
10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX ASSEMBLY Removal
11. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT Removal
12. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT Removal
13. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
14. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET Removal
15. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY Removal
16. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY





(a) Disconnect the control shift cable from the shift lever assembly.
(b) Remove the clip and disconnect the control select cable from the shift lever assembly.





(c) Using a screwdriver, pull out the transmission control cable stopper.
NOTE: Do not remove the stopper. If it is removed, reinstall it to its original position.





(d) Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.
NOTE: Do not rotate the nut excessively as it may damage the internal spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.





(e) Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the transaxle.
(f) Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 transmission control cables from the control cable bracket.





(g) Remove the nut and transmission control cable assembly.





(h) Remove the 2 nuts and transmission control cable assembly.
