C1541
POWER ASSIST SYSTEMS: POWER STEERING SYSTEM: C1541: Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction
DTC C1541 - Vehicle Speed Signal Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
The power steering ECU receives vehicle speed signals from the skid control ECU via CAN communication. The ECU provides appropriate assist force in accordance with the vehicle speed, based on the signals.
If the ECU detects this DTC, it adjusts the amount of power assistance to that which is provided for a speed of 100 km/h (62 mph) and continues system control.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTE: If the steering column or power steering ECU is replaced, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration Programming and Relearning.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)
(a) Check if DTC U0129 is output.
Result:
HINT: DTC U0129 indicates a VSC ECU communication malfunction in the power steering system.
B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM)
(a) Check for DTCs of the ABS or VSC.
Result:
HINT: These DTCs indicate a speed sensor signal malfunction in the ABS or VSC.
NOTE: If the power steering ECU is replaced, initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Programming and Relearning.
C -- REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE (with VSC)
B -- REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE (for ABS)
A -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU
