Installation








AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE CARRIER: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)





(a) Install the parking brake plate sub-assembly and the rear axle carrier sub-assembly to the rear axle hub and bearing assembly with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 63 Nm (642 kgf-cm, 46 ft-lbf)
2. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR (for 4WD) Installation
3. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)
4. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) Installation
5. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY





(a) Temporarily tighten the upper control arm assembly with the bolt and nut.
6. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY





(a) Temporarily tighten the rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly with the bolt and nut.





(b) Align the matchmarks and temporarily tighten the adjust cam and adjust bolt with the nut.
7. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY





(a) Install the rear stabilizer link assembly with the nut.
Torque: 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)
HINT: If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon wrench (5 mm) to hold the stud.

8. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) Installation
9. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE (for 2WD)





(a) Install the rear speed sensor wire with the bolt.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf)
10. CONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE (for 2WD) Installation
11. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR (for 4WD) Installation
12. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) Installation
13. APPLY HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE (for 4WD) Reassembly
14. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN SPRING PIN (for 4WD) Reassembly
15. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN SPRING PIN (for 4WD) Reassembly
16. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER (for 4WD) Reassembly
17. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for 4WD) Reassembly
18. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET (for 4WD) Reassembly
19. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER (for 4WD) Reassembly
20. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN COMPRESSION SPRING (for 4WD) Reassembly
21. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE STRUT (for 4WD) Reassembly
22. INSTALL NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN COMPRESSION SPRING (for 4WD) Reassembly
23. INSTALL NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for 4WD) Reassembly
24. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING (for 4WD) Reassembly
25. CHECK PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION (for 4WD) Reassembly
26. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT (for 4WD) Installation
27. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS Rear Axle Hub (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)
28. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT Rear Axle Hub (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)
29. INSTALL REAR DISC Reassembly
30. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE AND PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL Adjustments
31. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Replacement
32. INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT (for 4WD) Installation
33. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
34. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for 2WD)
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

35. STABILIZE SUSPENSION Installation
36. FULLY TIGHTEN UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY





(a) Fully tighten the bolt and nut.
Torque: 74 Nm (755 kgf-cm, 55 ft-lbf)


NOTICE:
- When installing the bolt, stop the nut from rotating and tighten the bolt.
- The final torque must be applied under standard vehicle height conditions.

37. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY





(a) Fully tighten the nut.
Torque: 140 Nm (1428 kgf-cm, 103 ft-lbf)
NOTE: The final torque must be applied under standard vehicle height conditions.





(b) Align the matchmarks on the rear No. 2 suspension toe adjust plate and fully tighten the nut.
Torque: 74 Nm (755 kgf-cm, 55 ft-lbf)
NOTE: The final torque must be applied under standard vehicle height conditions.

38. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
HINT: Rear Wheel Alignment (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)

39. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL (w/ VSC)
HINT: Test Mode Procedure

40. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL (w/ ABS)
