SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.
2. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX DOOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
HINT: Refer to the procedure up to Remove No. 1 Instrument Panel Box Door Sub-assembly Removal.
3. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
(c) Disconnect the connector.
NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
4. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
5. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT ASSEMBLY Disassembly
6. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Lean the instrument panel as shown the illustration and disengage the 5 hooks.
(c) Disengage the 5 hooks and remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the upper instrument panel sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, disconnect the 2 airbag connectors and remove the clamp.
NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(b) Remove the clamp and instrument panel wire assembly from the front passenger airbag assembly.
