Open or Short in Deceleration Sensor Circuit - ABS (Antilock Brake System)
BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM: C1243/43-C1245/45,C1279/79: Deceleration Sensor Stuck Malfunction
DTC C1243/43 - Deceleration Sensor Stuck Malfunction
DTC C1244/44 - Open or Short in Deceleration Sensor Circuit
DTC C1245/45 - Deceleration Sensor Output Malfunction
DTC C1279/79 - Deceleration Sensor Output Voltage Malfunction (Test Mode DTC)
DESCRIPTION
This sensor detects vehicle deceleration. The sensor signal is used in ABS control. If the sensor functions abnormally, the ABS warning light comes on.
DTC C1279/79 will be deleted when the deceleration sensor sends a deceleration sensor signal or when Test Mode ends. DTC C1279/79 is output only in the Test Mode.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DECELERATION SENSOR)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Select Data List mode on the Techstream Data List / Active Test.
ABS/VSC/TRAC
(d) Check that the deceleration sensor output valued displayed on the Techstream.
OK:
The deceleration sensor output value is normal.
NG -- CHECK DECELERATION SENSOR INSTALLATION
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Clear the DTCs ABS (Antilock Brake System).
(c) Start the engine.
(d) Drive the vehicle at a speed of 30 km/h (19 mph) or more for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Check if the same DTC is recorded ABS (Antilock Brake System).
Result:
B -- REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
A -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS (SYMPTOM SIMULATION)
3. CHECK DECELERATION SENSOR INSTALLATION
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Check that the deceleration sensor has been installed properly .
OK:
The sensor is tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor is not installed in a tilted position.
NG -- INSTALL DECELERATION SENSOR CORRECTLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT DECELERATION SENSOR
(a) Remove the deceleration sensor.
(b) Disconnect the deceleration sensor connector.
(c) Connect 3 dry cell batteries of 1.5 V in series.
HINT: Do not apply 6 V or more to terminals 3 (VGS) and 2 (GGND).
(d) Check the output voltage of terminal 1 (GL1) when the deceleration sensor is tilted forward and backward.
Standard Voltage:
HINT:
- If the deceleration sensor is tilted too much, it may output the wrong value.
- If the sensor drops, replace the deceleration sensor with a new one.
- When replacing the deceleration sensor, it should not be placed upside down.
NOTE: Check the deceleration sensor signal after replacement Test Mode Procedure.
NG -- REPLACE DECELERATION SENSOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - DECELERATION SENSOR)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
