BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: REAR SPEED SENSOR (for 2WD): REMOVAL

REMOVAL
HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
- If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly with rear speed sensor.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE FRONT UPPER CONSOLE BOX (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal
3. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal
4. DISCONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension)

(a) Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector from the rear speed sensor.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the rear speed sensor.

5. DISCONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension)

(a) Using a screwdriver, disconnect the connector from the rear speed sensor.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the rear speed sensor.

6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal
7. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal
8. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Replacement
9. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Replacement
10. REMOVE REAR DISC (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal
11. REMOVE REAR DISC (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Disassembly
12. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY WITH REAR SPEED SENSOR (for Torsion Beam Type Suspension) Removal
13. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY WITH REAR SPEED SENSOR (for Double Wishbone Type Suspension) Removal
14. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR
(a) Install 3 hub nuts and mount the rear axle hub and bearing assembly in a vise using aluminum plates.
NOTE: Replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.

(b) Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out the 2 pins and remove the 2 attachments from SST.

NOTICE:
- Keep the rear speed sensor away from magnets.
- Pull the rear speed sensor off straight, taking care not to allow it to contact the rear speed sensor rotor.
- If the rear speed sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
- Do not scratch the contact surfaces between the rear axle hub and bearing assembly and the rear speed sensor.
- Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the speed sensor rotor or tip.
HINT: If the sensor rotor needs to be replaced, replace it together with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly with rear speed sensor.
